How does laser tattoo removal work?

1. Tattoo removal lasers direct energy toward the ink in the skin using pulses of highly concentrated colored light beams.
2. The rapid absorption of the light energy fractures the tattoo ink into tiny particles, which is then easily removed by the body’s natural filtering systems.
3. The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo while leaving the surround skin unharmed, causing the tattoo to fade or disappear completely.

What types of tattoos can be removed?

The types of tattoos that can be removed by laser are professional, amateur (homemade), traumatic, surgical and cosmetic tattoos.

Can the color of the tattoo ink affect the results of laser tattoo removal?

Yes. Some inks respond better than others. While the black and blue pigments are easier to remove, the green and yellow pigments tend to be more difficult, but usually respond following a prolonged course of treatment

How many laser tattoo removal treatments will I need to remove my tattoo?

The removal of an unwanted tattoo will require multiple treatment sessions. The number of laser tattoo removal treatments depends on the amount, color and type of tattoo ink used, the depth of tattoo ink placed into the skin, and the method of tattoo application.

How long do the laser tattoo removal treatments take?

Depending on the size, color and location of your tattoo, the approximate duration of each laser tattoo removal treatment can range anywhere from several minutes up to 30 minutes.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

Each person’s threshold for pain tolerance varies, not to mention certain areas of the body tend to be more sensitive than other areas. The laser light pulses produced by the tattoo removal laser feels similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin.

A topical anesthetic will be applied and our laser provides a continuous flow of chilled air before, during and after the procedure to further minimize any discomfort during the procedure. Some will tolerate the procedure better than others.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?

In many cases, greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be achieved with laser tattoo removal treatment. However, due to the numerous tattoo inks in use today we have no way of knowing which tattoo ink was used or how deeply it was applied making it impossible to predict the degree of laser removal on any given tattoo.

Will laser tattoo removal leave a scar?

The majority of patients treated by laser tattoo removal should not develop any scarring. However, it is impossible to guarantee that no scarring will occur given the vast differences between individuals.

How much does it cost to remove a tattoo?

The price to remove a tattoo depends on a number of factors such as the type, size, depth, color, quality of the ink used, location, and the number of treatments required.

What can I expect after the laser tattoo removal treatment?

After the laser tattoo removal session, you may see some redness, swelling, bruising or pinpoint bleeding in the treated area, and may experience a sunburn type feeling. This is normal and will gradually disappear.

BEFORE TREATMENT STARTS:

It is important that you alert us of any medical conditions you may have and/or any prescribed medications you are taking prior to your laser tattoo removal treatment. Laser tattoo removal is not recommended if you are pregnant or nursing.

POST TREATMENT CARE

An immediate post treatment application of an antibiotic ointment will be applied to the treated area. To prevent any complications, please follow these instructions:

• An antibiotic ointment MUST be applied daily until the treatment area is healed, approximately 10 to 14 days.
• Do not let the area dry out or scab. This is especially important during the first 48 hours.
• You may bathe the following day, but do not scrub the area until it is completely healed.
• Avoid exposing the treated area to the sun as this can retard healing.
• Minimize any vigorous activity for a few days to optimize healing after your laser tattoo removal treatment.

PRE TREATMENT:

• To minimize any discomfort, we recommend that you take a Tylenol a couple of hours prior to the procedure.
• Pain medications such as Motrin, Aspirin and Aleve thin blood and promote bruising and therefore should be avoided a few days prior to treatment.
• Do not have your laser tattoo removal treatment done under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This can cause thinning of the blood, which can lead to increased bleeding and other more serious problems.

I do not like to wear make-up,and now, after the Affirm, I do not need to wear make-up.

I love the results and will use the affirm periodically to maintain the results.

How Does Latisse™ Work?

Latisse™ contains the active ingredient, bimatoprost. It prolongs the lash growing phase which results in fuller and darker lashes.

How to Use Latisse™?

You would use Latisse™ by applying it to the base of the upper eyelashes once each evening. Be sure to go through the full instructions before using.

How Soon Will I See Results?

You may see results after 4 weeks, 16 weeks for the full effects.

Possible side effects

Approximately 4% of patients reported itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. Less common side effects (on the skin close to where Latisse™ is applied or in the eyes) are skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids.

Who should not use Latisse?

Do not use Latisse™ solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients.

Active ingredient: bimatoprost
Inactive ingredients: benzalkonium chloride; sodium chloride; sodium phosphate, dibasic; citric acid; and purified water. Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid may be added to adjust pH. The pH during its shelf life ranges from 6.8 — 7.8.

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

Those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows form over time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

When will I see results from a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?

Within 2 weeks, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last from 3 – 6 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results may vary.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?

Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, Dr. Lin may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. Many people are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Will I experience any side effects?

Side effects are rare but may include temporary eyelid droop, localized pain and temporary swelling and/or bleeding/bruising. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome are not candidates for BOTOX®.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

BOTOX® & Hyperhidrosis

BOTOX® is FDA-approved for excessive underarm sweating that is not adequately managed with topical agents. BOTOX® treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the excessive sweating stops. Post-treatment, you should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment.

What is Juvéderm™?

Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent.

How is Juvéderm™ used?

Juvéderm™ injectable gel is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur. Juvéderm™ injectable gel temporarily adds volume to the skin and may give the appearance of a smoother surface.

What are possible side effects?

Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection-site reactions such as: redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Do the injections hurt?

Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Dr. Lin may choose to numb the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.

What should I expect following the procedure?

Dr. Lin will explain what to expect following your treatment as well as when makeup may be applied. Within the first 24 hours, you should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages.

Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. If there is swelling, you may need to place an ice pack over the swollen area.

Does the correction last forever?

No. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal correction. Less material (about half the amount) is usually needed for repeat injections.

What other treatments are available to me?

Other treatments for dermal soft-tissue augmentation include bovine-based collagen and other hyaluronic acid–based dermal fillers. Aside from these treatments, additional options for the correction of lines and wrinkles do exist, including facial creams, BOTOX® Cosmetic, chemical peels, and laser skin surface treatments, and may be discussed with Dr. Lin or any of our aestheticians.
