Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair can be frustrating, whether you’re a woman, man, or transitioning to your true identity. Temporary removal methods can be expensive, short term, and irritate the skin. Laser Hair Removal can provide a permanent reduction in hair growth with minimal recovery time.

The laser energy is attracted to the melanin, or pigment, naturally found in each hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, slowing, or preventing future growth. Our hair removal laser emits a powerful beam of light that passes through the skin and targets many follicles at once, making this treatment very quick and effective.

Why Choose Mill Creek Skin & Laser Center to do your Laser Hair Removal?

Since 2005, we’ve delivered expert laser hair removal treatments with a commitment to excellence, advanced training, and years of hands-on experience. Our highly skilled team combines cutting-edge technology with personalized care to ensure safe, effective results—and a world-class customer experience every step of the way.

Not all Laser Hair Removal systems are created equal. We chose the DEKA Synchro Laser Hair Removal machine for its precision, high power, comfort, and safety — making it more effective and faster in achieving long-term results without side effects. This device permits us to treat all genders, skin types, and complexions—including darker complexions, those with fine hair, and those that suffer from excess hair growth due to hormonal imbalances. The DEKA Synchro Laser Hair Removal system is a superior choice for the following reasons:
Some treatments, such as IPL (intense pulsed light), are not true laser hair removal machines. IPL is one of the least effective methods for hair removal.

Certain lasers are not safe for all skin types. Treatment with the incorrect type of laser can result in unwanted scars and discoloration of the skin.

Some lasers can make coarse hair finer instead of removing it. The laser may then be unable to recognize the hair during subsequent sessions, resulting in incomplete treatment.

Mill Creek Skin & Laser Center is Committed to Being an LGBTQIA+ Safe Space
We are proud to offer laser hair removal as an affirming service for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. We understand that hair removal can play a meaningful role in the transition process, and in helping individuals feel more comfortable and confident. We utilize the laser that surgeons specializing in gender-affirming surgery often recommend— or even require— for pre-vaginoplasty hair removal because of its medical grade precision and effectiveness. Permanent hair removal before bottom surgery (vaginoplasty) is a critical step to prevent post-surgical complications like hair growth inside the neovagina, which can cause infection, odor, and chronic discomfort. Our team is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment for all our clients.

Procedure

It is important that you do not remove the hair by plucking, waxing, or threading for at least one month before your
procedure. Avoid sunlight for at least four to six weeks before the procedure and use a strong sunscreen recommended by
Mill Creek Skin & Laser. Some
patients may require a pre-treatment prior to the laser procedure, which will be best discussed at the time of your
consultation.

Goggles are worn for eye protection. The removal process is done over several sessions, depending upon the hair quality,
skin type, and quantity of hair. A cooling gel will be applied to the site of hair removal before starting the
procedure. We utilize a cooling device during treatment to minimize discomfort before, during, and after the treatment
session. The laser handpiece emits focused light energy, which is converted into heat, damaging the hair follicles in
the area.

Treatments are virtually painless and will vary patient to patient. Patients describe a range of sensations during
treatment from tingling to the snapping of a rubber band.

When you meet with our laser hair removal specialist for your consultation, we’ll address any concerns you may have.
Individual results may vary.

Recovery and Results

After treatment, redness and some slight swelling may occur, typically lasting anywhere from two to 48 hours. These
minor effects can be improved by icing the area or by using an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream after treatment.

You can expect to see a gradual decrease in hair thickness and the amount of hair
present. In addition, you may also see a reduction in stubble, rashes, and ingrown hairs. For best results, avoid
all other hair removal methods in the treatment site.

Patients should avoid sun exposure for the next few weeks and use a sunscreen that is mineral based and SPF 50+ rated, such as ColoreScience. You may purchase these products in our clinic.

FAQs

The number of treatments is generally determined by the amount of hair, phase of hair growth, area of the body, skin color, hair color, and coarseness. Generally, six to eight treatments are recommended at four to six-week intervals.

Our hair naturally grows in three different stages. Not all hair is in the same stage at the same time, so when an area is treated, only a percentage of the follicles will be affected.

Not every form of light-based technology used for hair removal is the same. Knowing and understanding the difference is important in achieving long-term results. A true laser emits a single concentrated beam of light that is extremely focused onto one precise spot at a time and penetrates down to the root. IPL is not effective on dark skin. At Mill Creek Skin & Laser Center, we use only a true laser for laser hair removal and leave the IPL for its best use, which is treating skin pigment concerns, redness, vascular issues, and promoting collagen production.

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target and destroy hair follicles, preventing future hair growth. The pigment in the hair absorbs the laser, thus we cannot blonde, white, silver, or red hair.

Laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth over time. While it's not considered 100% permanent, most patients experience long-lasting results but some people may need occasional maintenance sessions for hormonal hair growth.

Most people describe the sensation as a mild stinging or snapping feeling, similar to a rubber band. Our clinic provides cooling systems that minimize discomfort during the treatment.

Typically, 6–8 sessions for women, or more for men, spaced 4–6 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. The number can vary based on hair concentration, skin tone, and treatment area.

Laser hair removal can be performed on nearly any area, including the face, underarms, legs, bikini area, chest, back, and arms.

Yes, with the right technology. Our clinic uses FDA-approved lasers suitable for a wide range of skin tones. During your consultation we will determine the best treatment plan for your skin and hair type.

Temporary redness, swelling, or slight irritation can occur but usually subsides within a few hours. Serious side effects are rare when performed by trained professionals.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning products, waxing, or plucking for at least 2 weeks prior on the treatment area. Shave the treatment area within 24 hours before your session unless instructed otherwise.

Yes, shaving is allowed between sessions. However, avoid waxing or plucking as these methods remove the hair root, which is needed for the laser to be effective.

You’ll typically start to notice a reduction in hair growth after 2–4 sessions. Hair will become finer and lighter, with smoother skin and significantly less regrowth over time.

Yes! We are proud to offer laser hair removal as a gender affirming service. We use the laser recommended by surgeons specializing in gender affirming surgery for pre-vaginoplasty hair removal because of its medical grade precision and effectiveness. Our team is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment for all our clients.
