Sun Spots

There are various types of spots. Sun spots, age spots, “liver” spots – these are all names for the small brown spots of pigment (melanin) that appear on your face, hands, chest, and other parts of your body.

These spots are caused by photodamage, or sun exposure. These solar lentigines can emerge at any age and on any skin type. Over time, the spots can darken or even grow to become unsightly “splotches.” The best prevention, of course, is daily sunblock SPF30+ year round. If the damage is already done, lasers can help restore even skin tone.

Another type of pigment problem is melasma. Often called the ‘mask of pregnancy,’ melasma appears as a dark ‘stain’ on the skin and can be triggered by hormonal changes. Although doctors have yet to find a cure, a combination of laser treatment and skincare prescription products can manage the condition.

“I went in and had a CO2 laser treatment done on my face last week at Mill Creek Skin & Laser Center. Although the treatment itself was uncomfortable it was so worth it! It’s been a week and I’m already getting compliments on my skin and my sun spots and fine lines are gone and my pores are so much smaller! I can’t wait to see the final results in another week. I would definitely suggest this treatment by Dr. Lin, he made it as comfortable for me as possible and was very good at keeping me informed on all the details of the treatment and post-care instructions. Thank you!” *

“AMAZINGGGGG! I had melasma (dark aging spot) on my face, I had tried many products, it didn’t help until I tried to get laser treatment at Mill Creek Skin & Laser Center. After 5-6 laser treatments, the dark spot started fading, and after 10 treatments much better. I am glad I found this clinic – Great Doctor, Great Staff, Great result!” *
